Understanding what influences the culture of your organisation can make a significant contribution to changing employee attitudes and behaviors in relation to workplace health and safety. For a safety culture to be successful it needs to be led from the top—that is, safety culture needs to be embraced and practiced by the CEO and senior managers.
As a safety leader you should ask yourself or people?
Individuals hold safety as a ‘value’ and not just a priority.
Individuals take responsibility for the safety of their co-workers in addition to themselves and all level of employee are willing and able to act on their sense of responsibility –they can go ‘beyond the call of duty’

The ultimate goal of a safety program is to keep workers free from harm. But the impact is far greater when your workers feel you truly care about their safety and well-being. Research says a strong safety culture has a positive impact on safety and business. Collection of data from employees with a strategic planning and analysis their attitudes, behaviors etc. are part of safety perception survey. Discussion with the customer to identify the key elements and employee participations.
This survey shall be developed to assess the attitude towards safety within client organisation and, if necessary, what we can do to improve it. All results will be combined for analysis and no individual results will be kept. We are not looking for right or wrong answers. We want to know what customer employee thoughts are about the safety culture of their organisation

Transforming a safety culture is a process, not a program. When the process is undertaken systematically and with authentic commitment – in organizations large or small, enterprise-wide or in individual locations -- qualitative change produces dramatic measurable improvements. Transforming a safety culture is not like designing and then implementing a safety program. Changing the culture means changing norms, assumptions and perceptions, not just behavior, and not just policies, procedures, training, and equipment. With the right tools and some patience, the culture change process is a manageable sequence of concrete activities on-

Safety Management System provide requirements, specifications, guidelines or characteristics that can be used consistently to ensure that materials, products, processes, practices and services are safe and sustainable in the long run, hence fit for the organization. Standards facilitate everyday life. They increase safety and can be used to rationalize operations. Standardization ensures that products, services and methods are appropriate for their intended use. It ensures that products and systems are compatible and interoperable.
Safety standards provide guidelines for the design of safer equipment and for improved safety programs in the workplace.
They provide for greater awareness of safety in the design of equipment, and increased consistency in operating procedures.
They also emphasize that safety is the responsibility of everyone, including the equipment manufacturer, the owner, the operator and the maintenance personnel.
Implementation of safety features and procedures, along with advances in personnel training, will result in a decrease of injuries
This, in turn, will result in a safer work environment, less time lost from the job due to injuries, and reductions in workers’ compensation costs.
